Medical School Stock Trading
Medical schools have been a part of the public stock market. One in particular is Adtalem Global Education Inc. (ATGE) which is the holding company for Chamberlain University, Walden University, American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, Ross University School of Medicine, and Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. The stock was trading at $75.30 on September 22, 2024, and today on November 7 it was trading at $90.66 (Adtalem Global Education, 2024; NYSE).
While there are several stock valuation methods, I decided to utilize absolute valuation to determine how this company is doing. Their P/E Ratio is 20.75 and the EPS is $3.44 which means it is priced higher than its earnings (these values reflect trailing 12 months). The company has a price-to-sales ratio of 1.79 which means that it is valued at twice its sales. Their gross margin is 55.47% (Adtalem Global Education, 2024). To understand relative I found out that it is trading above its industry peers at 20.13x ratio vs 19.77x (Yahoo Finance, 2024).
